About The Pack

Idaho Pack Walks is a free, biweekly community walk for dogs and their people across the Treasure Valley.

We're not a training class. We're not a free for all. We're a structured, supportive walk where dogs of every comfort level can practice being part of a calm, moving group.

Whether your dog is the social butterfly of the neighborhood or needs a wide berth from strangers, there's a spot in the pack for you. Look for the bandana that matches your dog's needs, hop in line, and walk with us.

How It Works

1
Join the Facebook group

That's where every walk gets posted. Date, time, location, parking notes.

2
Grab a bandana

Green, yellow, or red, depending on what your dog needs that day.

3
Show up & walk

Meet the pack, find your spot in line, enjoy a calm walk together.

The Bandana System

A simple visual code so every dog gets the space they need. Pick the color that fits your dog today, not last week, not in theory.

Dog wearing green bandana at a walk
"all good here"

GREEN

Friendly and social. Comfortable greeting other dogs and people. Happy to be in the mix.

Dog wearing yellow bandana at a walk
"easy does it"

YELLOW

Reactive or in training. Doing well, but needs space and time. No surprise greetings, please.

Dog wearing red bandana at a walk
"give us room"

RED

Needs space from people and dogs. Walking the back of the pack at a comfortable distance.

We're on Doghood too

Doghood is a community app for dog parents to find playdates, meetups, and local dog events. Download it to discover other dogs and walks happening in your neighborhood, and to keep up with the pack between our biweekly Treasure Valley walks.

Pack Etiquette

01

Leash Required

Six foot fixed leash, no flexis. Every dog stays leashed for the full walk.

02

Wear Your Bandana

Green, yellow, or red. It tells the pack how to interact with your dog today.

03

Ask Before Greeting

No dog to dog or human to dog greetings without checking in with the handler first.

04

Pick Up After Your Dog

Bring bags. Always. Leave the trail better than we found it.

05

Hydrate the Pack

Bring water for your dog, especially in summer. Boise gets toasty.

06

Vaccinated & Healthy

Current on core vaccines, flea and tick prevention, and feeling good. No sick pups.

07

Kids Welcome

Children are welcome with adult supervision and the same greeting rules.

08

Respect the Pace

Find your spot in line based on your dog's comfort. Reds at the back, greens up front.

~ good questions ~

Common Questions

Is it really free?
Yes. Always. Idaho Pack Walks is a community group, not a business. There's nothing to pay, sign up for, or buy.
My dog is reactive. Can we still come?
Absolutely, that's exactly who the bandana system is for. Wear a yellow or red bandana, walk at the back of the pack with extra space, and let us know if you need anything. Many of our regulars started here.
Where do I get a bandana?
Bring any bandana in the right color. We sometimes have extras at walks, but the easiest path is to grab a green, yellow, or red one ahead of time.
What if I don't have a dog?
Humans without dogs are welcome too, especially if you're considering getting one and want to see what calm dog energy looks like in motion.
What if it rains or snows?
Walks happen in most weather. If conditions are unsafe (ice, extreme heat, lightning), we'll post a cancellation in the Facebook group. Always check before you head out.
Can I bring more than one dog?
Yes, as long as you can handle each dog confidently on leash. If you have more dogs than hands, bring a friend.
How long is each walk?
Usually around 45 to 60 minutes at an easy, structured pace. Trail and terrain details get posted with each event.
Are puppies welcome?
Puppies are welcome once they've completed their core vaccination series. Talk to your vet if you're unsure.

Built on Community
Over Competition

Idaho Pack Walks started with two dog trainers, Alicia and Kelty, who decided the Treasure Valley needed something better than a market full of trainers competing for the same clients. They put their businesses side by side, opened the door for free, and built a space where every dog and every handler is welcome. What started as a small group walk has grown into a real community.
